Admission Criteria

International students must successfully complete the Vancouver International College Entrence Interview and provide evidence of English proficiency, such as SSLC ESL: SF4/SC7-8, IELTS: 5.5, TOEFL ibt: 46, TOEIC 625, Duolingo: 85 for Global Business Expertise programs, or higher levels like SSLC ESL: SF5/SC9-10, IELTS: 6.0, TOEFL ibt: 60, TOEIC 690, Duolingo: 95 for the Advanced Global Business Expertise program.

The Global Business Expertise Program is designed for aspiring managers seeking to navigate the business world effectively. It addresses key questions about management, communication, contract interpretation, financial literacy, customer engagement, and global market trends. This program equips students with practical skills and global perspectives, fostering success in a dynamic world. 

Through interactive class discussions, real-world case studies, and hands-on projects, students will enhance their confidence and job skills, preparing them for diverse career opportunities in the ever-evolving global marketplace.

Course 1 – Human Resource Strategies

Focuses on exploring the character traits and skills organizations expect from professional managers. Students engage in self-reflection to understand how they would perform in a management role. Throughout the course, we keep in mind that organizational performance is a manager’s primary objective. To that end, we reference the business news and case studies to examine the impacts on a manager’s tasks.

Course 2 – Public Relations Strategies

Focuses on sharpening and fine-tuning students’ communication skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking. A significant portion of the course is self-driven, centred around exercises and challenges students will face in an organizational context. Considerable attention is also paid to job search skills, resumes and cover letters. The course ends with a panel interview to give students an opportunity to practice and consolidate their skills. Public Relations Strategies is a natural complement to Human Resources Strategies.

Course 3 – Legal Administration

Focuses on acquainting students with key aspects of business law in a common law environment. The first two weeks of the course are spent looking at how contracts are formed, determining when they are and are not enforceable, as well as what is involved in performance and breach of contract. Basic legal questions surrounding corporations, sole proprietorships, and partnerships are discussed and analyzed before undertaking a general overview of international trade law.

Course 4 – Cost Control Strategies

Focuses on making aspiring managers aware of how their approach to and performance in management impacts the bottom line. To that end, managers need to be aware of how costs are classified and how accountants look at costs. Knowing how the numbers add up and are how they are connected to their day-to-day performance helps managers reflect on and up their game in an organizational context.

Course 5: Global Marketing Strategies

Connects the skills learned in the other courses with a manager’s responsibility to meet the needs of customers. Students not only study the marketing theory but become more attuned to how the practicalities of marketing affect the entire organization. The course is a natural complement to the human resources and Public Relations Strategies courses.

Course 6: Business Economics

Focuses on helping students understand the economic and societal implications of the day’s business headlines and encouraging them to reflect on the choices individual governments and societies make. Attention is paid to how economists from around the world grapple with these issues and how various economic questions affect all of us in daily life. Students will learn how a grasp of economics is essential to their managerial performance in an organizational context.
