Tourism

Hospitality Bootcamps | 4 weeks, M-F, 20 hours/week

Learning what one needs to know and practicing the skills required to succeed in an entry-level customer service position within the tourism industry is the focus of this course. This course gives students the language, information and skills to get started by listening to tourism industry personnel talk about their work, learning key interpersonal skills for customer relations, as well as working on tourism projects and doing internet research. This course also incorporates a field trip to the Vancouver Tourist office and a variety of tourist sites, with Vancouver itself serving as part of students’ classroom research.

What are the admission requirements?

To enroll in a VIC bootcamp, applicants must provide the following:

1. Proof of Valid Medical Insurance
2. Proof of English Proficiency (ONE of the following):

-Education in English: Three years of full-time study in English in a country where English is a principal language.
-Language Test Scores (minimum required scores):
IELTS (Academic): 5.5
TOEFL IBT: 59
CLB PT: L6, S6, R5, W5
CELPIP: L6, S6, R5, W5
CAEL: 40
Duolingo: 95
-Completion of an English pathway program accepted by Canadian institutions.

3. Prior Education:

-High school diploma (Grade 12) OR
-Mature student status (19+ years old with relevant experience) OR
-Undergraduate degree OR
-Be 18 years or older on the program start date.
