Preparing students for success in a changing world

At VICCC, our hybrid model is adapted to allow students to start their studies virtually in their own country while waiting for study permit approval. These students join class synchronously with the students already in Canada. When they can travel to Canada, they continue online during the mandatory self-isolation period. After 14 days, they join their classmates on campus. Students who are completing a co-op program must be in Canada before their co-op starts – we cannot offer co-op placements outside Canada at this time.

Students taking a hybrid class may have a few more things to consider – a secure high-speed internet connection is a must. They should be comfortable using platforms such as Zoom, Padlet, or McGraw-Hill Connect. The teacher likely will not have time in class to troubleshoot technology issues, so hybrid students should familiarize themselves with the required technology before starting the class.
